Scrappy Pumpkin Hotpad

Pumpkin Hotpad Front by doodledodesigns

Pumpkin Hotpad Front, a photo by doodledodesigns on Flickr.

I used some orange scraps, and a tiny bit of green, to improv this little pumpkin.  The solid is Connecting Threads Latte.  Kind of a greigey color.  I like these solids.  They're pretty soft and also inexpensive.

I quilted it with random lines, and in hindsight, I don't like it.  It's too harsh or something.  Oh well!  It'll be used just the same.  I'd like to make another one, and a leaf version, to package up with a cookie cutter and a fall baking mix to give as a little gift.  I'll quilt them in a more calm manner of course!

Some Denyse Schmidt for Fabric Traditions on the back.  I replenished this print (I only had a small piece) and bought 10 other half yards from Joann's the other day.  They were on clearance, plus the red tagged stuff was an additional 50% off.  So the half yards were only $1.50 each.  And then I had a $5 of $25 coupon.  I purchased a new blade for my left-handed Gingher rotary cutter on sale (and some other things) to round out my purchase.  Super good deal!

  5. I'm from Canada - we visited family this past Thanksgiving weekend and I got to make a run down to the Joanns in Watertown, NY - I got 4 yards of DS (2 different prints) for $3/yard - happy Thanksgiving to my fabric stash!

Your pumpkin is adorable - I saw it in the Sew Modern Monday linky and came over for a peek. That straight line quilting you did really adds the perfect touch - I love how you echo'd the lines of the scraps, and that backing - YUM!
