Stitch that Stash! February bee blocks

It’s my turn to be queen bee in the Stitch That Stash bee!

Stitch That Stash

For my blocks, I've chosen the Ohio Star. Tutorial can be found here.

The quilt I will be using these blocks for is for my king size bed in the master bedroom. I've made it my mission this year to make that room prettier.  The colors will be various shades of blue and grey on a white field.

My husband and I were married in early September (and our only child was born two days after our anniversary), so the sapphire (blue) has significance for us. And our wedding song was Keeper of the Stars by Tracy Byrd, so stars are also special.

I made a little mock-up in Photoshop to help visualize what I'm going for. I thought I'd just place the blocks randomly and alternate with white squares. I'll add a white border to bring it up to size, and probably some grey binding. Bee blocks are the perfect way to help beef up a king size quilt! I'll still need to make nine blocks of my own, but that's better than 25! As for quilting, I'm thinking straight lines echoing the seams around each block, and then if I'm feeling extra ambitious, I'll do some of my fave chunky hand stitching around each star. I think I'm a minimalist when it comes to the quilting. The back will be Lizzy House's Star Charts in blue from the new Constellations line.

Block requests for the bee:
  • White for the background.
  • Blue or grey for the star points and center.
    • For blues, any shade is fine from baby blue up to navy, but please no turquoise or very green shades of blue.
    • Please keep the blue or grey all one print.
    • See photo above for guidance, these are the fabrics I will be using to make my own blocks.
  • I don't care for batiks or reproduction prints.
  • The blocks don't have to be identical, but it's okay if they are.
So raid your scraps and stash and have fun!  Can’t wait to see what y’all come up with for me!  Thanks in advance!
