Organization

Today is blah and rainy.  I actually like the rain, I find it relaxing.  But this morning, the boy and I were supposed to have a walking date with our friends, and the rain changed that.

So instead of heading out into the rain, I thought I might try to organize my giant tangled ball bag of floss into a box.

Honestly, I am really at a loss as to what to do with my embroidery floss.  I don't really like it on those little bobbins.  I actually prefer to work with it straight from the skein.

But I don't really have any storage solutions right now.  My crafting room is such a mess all the time, no matter how many times I clean and organize it, it just gets messy again, even when I'm cleaning up after each project.  I think I just have too much stuff in there.  So there isn't really room for another piece of furniture or large storage unit thing to keep skeins whole and untangled.  Or maybe there is and I'm just not seeing it.

How do you organize yours?  Bobbins or skeins?

  1. Have you seen the StitchBow system from DMC? I'm in love with it. My mother-in-law bought me the binder and some refills for Christmas. Honestly, at first I thought I'd hate it because I've always been a bobbin girl and this is much more like working from the skein. The binder has lots of pockets for other tools, projects and even a piece of felt for needles.

  2. I also like to work with my floss from the skeins. I bought three ring binders and the vinyl sheets that you store trading cards in. I have organized my floss by color in these binders. It works great for me.

  3. I bobbin it...but I also have the Stitchbow binder system for all of my colors that I haven't used yet. I only do bobbins for current project colors.

  4. Bobbins. But, sometimes my daughter helps wind them, so I'm cheating!
