Baby Gift, a photo by doodledodesigns on Flickr.
I knew I wanted to make something for the gift, and finally decided on this blanket because of the fact that it wasn't too girly. I just knew the pink glittery ruffly stuff would be out in full force, so I thought it'd be a nice change. I think I kept it sufficiently girly with the fancy ruffle though.
Just look at all the ruffles! I just love it.
The fabric is Alphabet Soup from Riley Blake fabrics. The back is soft minky.
I also made a little matching paci clip using a tutorial by Dana from Made, which was posted over at Sew, Mama, Sew.
I think some of the guests loved the blanket as well because I was asked if I make them for sale. Before the weekend was up, I had an order for two of them! I can't wait to see which fabric they chose.

That ruffle is delicious! Congrats on the orders, so much fun.
ReplyDeleteDelicious is the perfect word for it! Thanks so much!
DeleteWow, that's one cute blanket, I love the colors! Your photos leave my jaw dropped :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, Kati. Thanks!
DeleteThe ruffles are breathtaking!! Glad you have some possible sales too!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Love the ruffles! And the matching paci clip :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Krysta! The paci clip was super easy.
DeleteOh those ruffles remind me of flamenco skirts ;o) Great blanket, I'm sure it will be much loved ;o)
ReplyDeleteOh how right you are! Now I need to make a flamenco skirt. LOL
DeleteI love the look of the ruffles on your blanket. I've never tried doing ruffles, is it difficult?
ReplyDeleteIt's not difficult so much as time consuming. I don't have a ruffle foot for my machine, so I did the technique where you baste two lines of stitching, tie the ends of the bottom strands together, then pull the top strands, ruffling as you go. That took a good long while, but it wasn't too bad. I'd do it again.
