Scrappy Sunday

I am a huge fan of scraps.  So much that I keep even the little niblets that you can't possibly use in anything because they're like an inch or smaller (maybe they'd be good for a ticker tape project?).  So I thought it would be fun to start a series to showcase ways to use scraps in various projects.  Each week, on Sunday, I'll be linking to some scrappy ideas, and hopefully I'll have some projects of my own to share as well.  Let's get this started!

I'd like to highlight some free patterns I've discovered via Craftsy.  They're both paper piecing patterns.  I'm just starting to get comfortable with paper piecing, so any time I find an awesome FREE pattern to practice on, I jump at it.

First up is the super fun Circle of Geese block.  These blocks can look so different depending on your fabric selection, as well as how you arrange your colors.

Here's a not so great Instagram shot of a circle of geese block I have recently made using the pattern.  It was fun searching through all the scraps to find the right colors for the scheme I was going for.  I can't wait to make more of these.  I've been thinking about shrinking it down to make a linen and rainbow one for a small zipper pouch.  And then I recently saw one like that on Instagram and it sealed the deal.  Another way to use tiny scraps!

(I just have to add, my husband was just looking over my shoulder and asked me if these were supposed to be tortilla chips!  I can't stop laughing.)

Okay, next is this great pattern called Mini Trajectory.  I have not made this one yet, but it's on my list of things to do really soon!  I'm loving it in pillow form, but I think that it would also look wonderful as a wall hanging.
